jet skiing in the adriatic

jet skiing in the adriatic

all summer long we’d been craving a good boat ride // waterski // jet ski.
usually every summer includes a full week in the tetons where we get our
fill along with plenty of boating weekends in utah with my family, so
this year we were really craving to just get out on some water on our own.
Jet Ski4
we finally did this in dubrovnik by renting a jet ski for a few hours and
cruising along the coastline, exploring caves, and stopping lots to jump in.

i realized a few minutes in that i am very used to jet skiing on smooth LAKES …and
in the open choppy sea it’s a little different! i was worried we were going to get into an acident and need a Personal Injury Attorney but luckily we managed to control the jet ski. we were flying over each little wave
and my stomach hurt so bad from flexing against the waves and laughing so hard,
but it was a rush and there’s nothing like saltwater spraying on your face as you
hold on to your hubby and zip across the adriatic sea. it made for such a fun memory.
Jet Ski2we found the best deal from gari jet skis in dubrovnik.
the jet skis are docked a little bit outside of the city, but
luckily the company will pick you up anywhere in town
and drive you there + back as part of your rental. this is
such a fun way to go island hopping & exploring on your
own with freedom. just beware, gas is a little pricey here!
Jet Ski18 those city walls were so amazing to see from the water.
we cruised around and found locals cliff diving, tourists kayaking in
little inlets, people snorkeling, and swimmers exploring caves. there are so
many cool things all around this area and it was refreshing to explore on our own.
DCIM100GOPROG0028216.this guy was nice and didn’t speed too fast since i was convinced
we were going to fly off with each huge wave bounce. at the end we
were dropping off our jet ski at the same time as another couple, and the
other guy said to chase: “did your wife scream at you to slow down the whole time
like mine did?” and we all laughed so hard. the boys should have gone together!

Jet Ski13confession: i don’t know how to dive!!!!! haha, i’m serious.
i wish i did, but it’s a disaster. someone teach me please!

Jet Ski10Jet Skijust feeling like two giddy little kids as you can probably tell from these smiles ^^
this was one of our favorite days of travel, especially when it ended with:
IMG_5545the most delicious fusion restaurant in dubrovnik.
look at that seared ahi tuna dish. oh my goodness!! ^^
Dubrovnik6we are SO happy we found azur and changed up the same food we’d been having.
i hadn’t had any type of asian food in months over here, and the fusion of
mediterranean with an asian twist was brilliant. i was so happy during this meal!
in dubrovnik, please find this amazing spot tucked right above the water in old town.
IMG_5529this cashew shrimp dish was what dreams are made of. each bite i would
stop and close my eyes and tell chase how much i have missed these flavors!
so refreshing to have the fresh fish of the mediterranean with different tastes.
IMG_5532salmon ceviche tacos: see what i’m talking about here? ^^
Dubrovnik12the menu is simple, but ALL so quality. also, those prices are in croatian
kuna which is about 15 to 1 … so don’t worry, it’s reasonable! ^^
IMG_5537crispy skin salmon for me of course, and every single bite was better than the last.
Dubrovnik16^^ the best part is the alleyway it is tucked into.
it was a memorable meal sitting at a high top watching
the locals pass by! i had a pretty cute date to look at too ^^
IMG_5544IMG_5535the dessert menu is also small, but pure goodness.
you can’t go wrong with the tapioca coconut pudding,
“croasian” style baklava, or azur chocolate tart. we did a
sampler of all 3 and it was too dark by then for photos, but
trust me when i say we finished every last bite of all three.
Dubrovnik13 we got to chat with the hilarious croatian owner vedran at the end of our meal,
and that itself was a treat. he is so passionate about food and croatia and life..
we could easily see what makes his restaurant amazing – the passion!

this was one of those travel days that made chase ask why we hadn’t just been
doing things like this all summer long..haha! living at the coast in croatia,
jet skiing in the adriatic, and eating well for a low price is hard to beat.

we loved you, croatia!
