birmingham, alabama

our first stop through the south was birmingham! the place where chase lived during his mission, and has such a soft spot in his heart for. i’ve been back with him once before when we were dating in college, and we went all through the state to the places he had lived (and to an alabama football game!) i loved it then, and was excited to return with our girls! it’s also a bonus that some of our best friends from college now live there for medical residency, and we got to visit them and their new sweet little baby girl. love the enslins! we also saw a lot of chase’s friends from his mission and his old stomping grounds. we stayed downtown and did a lot of the civil rights sights, explored the beautiful mountain brook area, went to the zoo and botanical gardens, had barbecue and pecan pie and banana pudding, and just loved seeing chase back in a place that means so much to him! it was a great place to start our southern road trip. for anyone who visits, here is our rundown/ mini guide..and pics from the trip below!
