service in soweto
while in south africa we got the chance to volunteer
at an elementary school in the township of diepsloot.
it was the best morning filled with the biggest smiles,
friendliest children, and so much fun helping them with
end of year projects. it made me miss being in a classroom :)
the school encouraged us to take some pictures and
gave permission to share, FYI. i love these beautiful faces!
my mom was the clear favorite :) ^^
after helping tutor and playing out at lunchtime with
the students, we headed to another township: soweto.
the iconic soweto towers ^^
and, stopped along the way into soweto
for a picture by the soccer stadium ^^
soweto is so full of life and personality.
it’s historic and so worth visiting!
you can see more soweto attractions
here like visiting nelson mandela’s house.
we stopped into a tuck shop by the hector pieterson
museum for a kota sandwich & a song by these cute kids ^^
we saw a fun soccer game happening on the way out ^^
whether volunteering, sightseeing, or chatting with locals, do not
miss experiencing a township while in johannesburg!
