checking into hotel belvedere, lake como
if bellagio is considered the “pearl of lake como,”
the hotel belvedere might just be the pearl of bellagio.
situated up at the top of the town overlooking the
backside of the lake, it is one of the oldest hotels on
lake como and one of the best. after trekking up the
steps and hill from the ferry in town (we missed the
memo that there is a golf cart hotel shuttle ;) we arrived
and immediately forgot about the hot, sweaty walk with
our luggage. we took in the elegant paradise surrounding us
and instantly pulled on our swimsuits and ran out to the pool.
is there anything better than jumping into a cold pool
on a hot summer day and getting your head wet?
okay maybe just one thing is better – jumping into
a cold LAKE which we did shortly after this dip :)
chase enjoying the balcony sundeck ^^ meanwhile,
the views of the italian rooftops + lake had me drooling.
one of the biggest keys to a hotel’s favorability in my
mind is their breakfast. this was one of the best ever
between the food and the lake views we enjoyed!
and really, how can you go wrong with a place that serves cake at breakfast?
italy knows how to start the day right.
i spy a very happy girl on her hotel balcony ^^
being a little bit secluded from the bustling town below allows
one to feel a little bit like george & amal ;) with your own private balcony,
able to experience the serene side of lake como with the town still nearby.
this was our first relaxing beach / pool stay after 6 weeks traveling
europe, so we felt fine about spoiling ourselves, soaking up some
sun, and relaxing a bit. our scandinavian itinerary had our skin
pretty fair for summertime, so we had to ease into the sunshine!
we could have stayed here all day, but we did
venture out a little bit to the lake below!
^^ we watched the sunset on the lake with a box of italian sweets
in hand, and both thought this may be one of our favorite moments.
though we LOVED the main little town of bellagio and explored
it through & through, this hotel gave us a secluded feel and
helped us see the other side of bellagio. it is something i’ll
remember forever in my dreams, and hope to return to!
*we were welcomed as guests of hotel belvedere.
all lakeview loving, balcony enjoying,
opinions remain our own :)
