At the tippy top of my food list in Salt Lake was
SWEET LAKE BISCUITS & LIMEADE.
I’d seen pictures, heard about it, and knew it was right
up my alley. Of course we had to go right when we arrived
to Utah, and we brought my dad along since this has opened
during the time my parents were living abroad! We were all
excited to try it, and I was right — it is so up my alley…the
type of place I’d open if I ever did! It’s fresh, simple menu,
darling design, good service, and takes a few items and
does them so well: biscuits, limeades, salads, and a few
other offerings. It’s reasonable and the type of place that
is fun not only to try, but to go back to again and again.Ginger lemonade + a honeydew cucumber limeade for us!
(The ginger lemonade was the winner)
I normally don’t get drinks other than water at restaurants
because I’m focused on the food, but this is a place to make
an exception. The owner Hasen started out selling his mint
limeade at the SLC farmers market, and it was such a hit
that he would get calls requesting it all through the year.
One thing led to another and he opened this place based off
starting out with that limeade! So — he knows what he’s doing.
Pretty cute dates ^^ (+ Chase, who was outside on a work call :/ )
Even if you go healthier here and try a salad, I still recommend
trying a side biscuit with honey butter and jam. They’re special.
Warm, fluffy, fresh out of the oven. Mmm mmm!
We went for the famous “Hoss” breakfast biscuit sandwich packed with fried
chicken, egg, bacon, cheddar, sausage gravy, and red quinoa potato hash browns.
It’s hard to go wrong with a combo like that! Perfect order if you’re hungry!!
The thing I’d go back for often: the salads. They are done so right.
Flavorful — fresh — reasonable. Add a biscuit on the side and it’s
the perfect lunch! I had the superfood and my dad had the
Viet Man…both were off the charts and I want to go back
for the Utah Cobb and the Ruby Summer salads!
I would definitely get the superfood salad again…
Packed to the brim with carrots, berries, almonds,
sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, cranberries, red cabbage,
avocado, flax seeds, chia seeds, & balsamic orange dressing.
The Viet Man has tri-tip, cilantro, mint, tomato, cucumber,
green onion, jalapeño, lime squeeze, & a ginger sesame dressing.
It’s hard not to grab one of these homemade banana cookies
with salted caramel frosting on top on your way out!
Three cheers for limeade, biscuits, and salad!
We’ll be back — and you should too!
