Girls Night out at Black Sheep

Twice a year in our church we have General Conference weekend,
one of the best parts of the fall & spring! On the Saturday night
all of the men go to Priesthood meeting and the girls get together
for girls night out. I’ve missed this tradition the past 3 years
with my mom in Africa, and this year I was so happy to have
her back! The boys went off to their meeting and we headed
down to Sugar House to go to dinner. We tried out the new
location of Black Sheep (inside Epic Brewing) and had the
best night! The food and company both were tip top.
Can’t believe we have her back in the U.S.A.! ^^
This distinctive restaurant coins itself as “Southwestern Native fusion,”
bringing a flair to traditional Native American and Southwest flavors.
You’ve never had anything quite like it before I bet!
We started off with the honey lavender flatbread with
smoked honey butter, which turned out to be our dessert first!
The Black Sheep Salad that I can still taste because it was so unique and flavorful ^^
When I read it on the menu I wasn’t too excited about it, but I was in the mood
for a salad so we ordered it. It proved me wrong and was so simple yet flavorful
with its cactus pear and pomegranate vinaigrette. A dressing can make a salad!
Next we shared the squash bisque and again, it exceeded expectations.
My mom and I both have our own butternut squash soup recipes that
we love, so it’s saying a lot that we were blown away by the unique flavor.
^^ This little one was a big fan of the soup too ;)
Bleu Bison Burger ^^ We split this burger as the main course, and it
completed a hat trick of 3 incredible plates. Bleu cheese, caramelized
onion, bacon, cabernet sauvignon reduction, lemon rosemary
mayo, tomato, lettuce, and basically the things dreams are made of.
The bun and fries sealed the deal and made this the most solid burger.
Next time I will definitely be venturing into the Mexican food portion
of their menu (beef brisket Navajo taco / enchiladas) but for now,
this selection blew us away. It’s rare to love every dish you order
at a new restaurant, but we really and truly did with these.
A fun night out made even better by this tiny little gal joining the party ^^
We loved this fun spot and can’t wait to come back!
