Peninsula Dining Guide

Today I’m sharing a guide to some of the very
best food here on the Peninsula. We’ve lived in the
South Bay and in San Francisco, but now that we live right
on the Peninsula I wanted to curate a list (which I’ll add to)
of favorite eats in between the two. I did include some favorites
from the South Bay as well because I’ve never posted those, so
it’s basically a great list for anything south of the city on the
Peninsula, through Silicon Valley, and below. I have so many to
add, but this is a start of some we’ve loved since living in this area.

•• Peninsula Dining Guide ••
collages3LYFE Kitchen || Palo Alto / Cupertino
LYFE Kitchen
Everything to love about healthy Northern California food can
be found here. Everything is natural, but there are still delicious
and filling menu items. Don’t miss “Art’s Unfried Chicken”, the
garlic parm sweet potato fries, and the delicious flatbreads
and salads. We love this place and eat here often!

Los Altos Grill || Los Altos
skillet-cornbread

Definitely our #1 favorite in the area. It’s owned by Hillstone, the same
as our obsession Bandera, so we are happy this is right nearby! It’s
where we go with any visitors and for any special occasion. Be sure
to try the skillet cornbread, artichoke, macho salad, butternut
enchiladas, rotisserie chicken, steak, and the dessert. ALWAYS.
*You will definitely need a reservation…otherwise go at 5pm
and try sitting on the terrace to order apps in case a table opens!

SAJJ Mediterranean || SF, Mt. View, etc.
Picture the Mediterranean version of Chipotle, and this is it.
Fresh, healthy ingredients with options for wraps, shwarma,
pita, bowls, salads, etc. We love the chicken shwarma wrap
and the steak salad. You can make any creation you please!

Voyageur du Temps || Los Altos
144078Our go-to bakery and brunch spot nearby. I love their quiche,
breakfast sandwiches, acai parfait bowl, and don’t get me started
on those
ALMOND CROISSANTS…This place is great for a casual
sit-down brunch/lunch, or a fun spot to pick up the best treats!

Blue Line Pizza || Multiple Locations
blue-line-pizza-1

The best spot for deep dish in the Bay…and for cheesy garlic bread!
Save up some calories for a meal here, it’s worth it :)
Asian Box || Multiple Locations
This is the healthiest + freshest Asian food you’re going to find!
Every ingredient is local and freshly prepared in these customizable
rice boxes. We like ‘The Workout’ chicken & brown rice box,
along with a beef & lime basil shrimp custom bowl. Yum!

Curry Up Now || Multiple Locations
This is our go-to for simple, quick Indian food. It’s the best version
of classic Indian dishes with some fusion mixed in.
The butter chicken burrito is life-changing!!

La Villa || Willow Glen
l

Right in darling downtown Willow Glen, this Italian deli is an
establishment. Homemade ravioli is the hit (you can get it hot
or pick it up to go), and you must try the Chris combo. Trust me.

San Pedro Square Market || San Jose
tospsarch

This is such a fun little spot right in downtown San Jose,
filled with so many great restaurants and food stands.
We recommend the marketplace…we LOVE Konjoe
Burger Bar (best buns ever!), Loteria Taco Bar, Spuds
potato bar, and so much more. You can’t go wrong!

Manresa Bread || Los Gatos / Los Altos
144106

The bakery from famed Michelin-starred restaurant in Los Gatos,
this spot is full of some of the best baked goods you can find. I
love trying their new items & specials, but the basics are incredible.

Cetrella || Los Altos/ Half Moon Bay
Cetrella2

This lovely restaurant blends a unique Cal- Mediterranean menu.
I love every salad I’ve had here, but you HAVE to try the gnudi.
It is heavenly and I’ve never had anything like it. This place
is a little higher end, so go for lunch or a special occasion!

Estrellita || Los Altos
Estrellitas

This authentic Mexican joint is easy to miss, tucked on the corner of
El Camino and San Antonio Road…but once you spot the colorful building
and cute hanging flags, you won’t want to miss it! It’s been open since 1950
and is the oldest Mexican restaurant of its kind in the area! We live around
lots of incredible Mexican food, but this is very authentic and different.
Try the enchilada platter, or mole if you’re a fan of that. It’s great!
(Also…their (virgin) Pina Coladas are all natural and I’m obsessed :)

Lemonade || Palo Alto/ Walnut Creek
img_7580

Another absolute favorite…this place hails from Los Angeles,
and we’re lucky to have some new locations in the Bay! I could
probably eat here every day. It’s a fresh walk-through bar of
incredible seasonal, healthy food that you can combine into
your own plate. I’ve truly never had something I disliked here.
And of course, try the fun lemonade flavors with your meal!

Nom Burger || Sunnyvale
NOM BurgerWe’re obsessed with these AMAZING burgers in Sunnyvale.
We first ate here when I was right at the end of my pregnancy,
and I still dream about that caprese burger ^^ The menu is
simple, quality, and unique. There is always one monthly
special burger that’s fun to try. The shakes are also the best!

Pizzeria Delfina || Palo Alto
IMG_3832

A favorite from San Francisco, we are so glad they brought a
location down by us in Palo Alto. It’s just simple and perfect.
I love their classic Margherita, you can’t go wrong with that!

Whale City Bakery || Davenport
22_kp2_9002

One of our absolute favorite hidden gems…I tell everyone
to go here on a drive up the 1 between Santa Cruz and Half
Moon Bay. Not only is it in our favorite beach town with the
most gorgeous views, but it has the best fish & chips as well
as the olallieberry pie with ice cream. Don’t miss this!!!

Sam’s Chowder House || Half Moon Bay/PA
20141107-california-wedding-trip-iphone-6-back-camera-4-15mm-f-2-2-img_0628

Two words: lobster roll. This is so good it’s been featured on The
Today Show! So fun to go for lunch and beautiful views. The tuna
melt and salads are also so good. Such a fun stop on the coast!

Tava Kitchen || Palo Alto
Processed with VSCO with f2 preset

There are plenty of Indian restaurants dotting the Peninsula,
but Tava is unique because of the California blend. It takes
Indian and South Asian food and gives it a California twist which
is so tasty. Ex: a chicken tikka burroti (fusion of a burrito and roti :)
We loved that, along with the slow-braised chicken, chilled brussels
South Asian mac & cheese, glazed sweet potatoes, and more.
Starbird || Sunnyvale
IMG_4447
Starbird is a like a healthier fast-food fried chicken spot!
It’s a good quick and cheap stop for wraps, salads and
sandwiches…we love grabbing their breakfast on the go!

A few other Bay Area chains & spots we like:

Aquis Cali-Mex, Opa! Greek, Doppio Zero MTV,
Vesta Redwood City, La Fondue in Saratoga, and lots more.

I want any and all suggestions from anyone else!!

    hands down my favourite restaurant on the plant is dishdash in sunnyvale. the biriyani dejaj is actually the most delicious meal ever. dishdash’s sister restaurant, dish n dash, which is much more casual, is also AMAZING. i think about these two restaurants at least every other day. i know i am being dramatic, but seriously, so good.

    Did you guys ever try Taqueria Tlaquepaque when you lived in Willow Glen? There are three locations that are ridiculously loud and crowded, but it is so good! Our favorite is the one on Willow Street. :)

    Also Melt and Specialty’s are great little mini-chain lunch spots–the Apple Bacon Brie sandwich at Specialty’s is AMAZING!
