Safe Sleeping with HALO

Safe Sleeping with HALO

I’m surprised at how natural being a mom has felt to me.IMG_4383

I hadn’t spent much time around babies before having my own.
Yes, we have darling nieces & nephews and babies with friends,
but I’ve never really taken care of a little one on my own. I can
count on one hand the number of diapers I had changed before
having my own babe — haha! Definitely making up for it now :)
I didn’t know about half of the products that makes life easier –
I am so glad that breastfeeding pillows are a thing, people!
I still feel clueless in so many areas, but the basics have come
pretty naturally to me and it’s been amazing to experience!
But I haven’t had much sleep, which is normal.
Maybe I can invest in a good mattress for myself next time!
I might have to do the required amount of search,
but I’m sure I’ll find some alternatives to those
prominent ones in the market,
like John Lewis mattresses.

Despite all of the natural instincts I’ve felt, I still have wanted to do
everything possible to ensure the safest environment for baby girl.
I knew one of the most important places to keep safe for her was her
sleep situation, so I partnered with HALO to be sure of this. Before baby
we ordered the HALO swivel sleeper Bassinest and a SleepSack Swaddle.
These two items have helped me rest assured (literally) that Reagan is as
safe as possible while asleep! The Bassinest is perfect because she is right
next to us without being in our bed (which is a big temptation in those
middle-of-the-night hours). It feels so much better to wake up and see
her safely swaddled in her own space next to us with no risk of falling
out or being rolled on! On top of that, she is zipped + wrapped in the
swaddle which keeps her warm and free of other loose blankets. We
got a few different swaddles to try out before she was born, and at
first we were using a different one because it was a smaller size. When
we switched to the HALO SleepSack it was a game changer, I promise!
Even Chase commented how much better of a swaddle it is. I think
the zipper and bodysuit helps her feel comfortable and then with
the swaddle wrapped around that, it’s a perfect combination that
helps baby sleep through the night. These items can be purchased
on Amazon, which was nice since they were on our baby registry there!
These are also available at Target, Toys R Us, BuyBuy BABY, and more.

Along with these products, I love HALO because they provide so much info
about safe sleep (like here). You can tell that it’s truly important to them
as a company — they want all babies to be safe and sound! In honor of
Baby Safety Month coming up in September, I wanted to post some of
HALO’s most important safe sleep tips for babies…so helpful and crucial!

ALWAYS

– Place baby to sleep on his or her back at naptime and at night time.

– Use a crib that meets current safety standards with a firm mattress that fits snugly and is covered with only a tight-fitting crib sheet.

– Remove all blankets, comforters and toys from your baby’s sleep area (this includes loose blankets, bumpers, pillows and positioners). The American Academy of Pediatrics suggests using a wearable blanket instead of loose blankets to keep your baby warm.

– Offer a pacifier when putting baby to sleep. If breastfeeding, introduce pacifier after one month or after breastfeeding has been established.

– When finished breastfeeding, put your baby back to sleep in his or her separate safe sleep area alongside your bed.

– Room share, but don’t bed share. Bed sharing can put a child at risk of suffocation.

NEVER

– Never put your baby to sleep on any soft surface (adult beds, sofas, chairs, water beds, quilts, sheep skins etc.)

– Never dress your baby too warmly for sleep; keep room temperature 68-72 degrees Fahrenheit.

IMG_4455A few pictures of our setup at home are below …
our apartment has really good natural light, except
for in our bedroom! So these pictures are a little bit
dark, but it makes it an even better sleep environment —
and it’s ideal for this mama to nap in the day to catch up ;)
IMG_4391Ha- Chase took this photo below right as she was waking up,
so I promise I wasn’t just letting her cry! It was just perfect
timing to show how close she is when I need to grab her :)
IMG_4387 The only thing more important than a good night’s sleep

is a safe night’s sleep…which HALO helps with!

Here’s to some safe zzzzs!
