Reykjavik + The Blue Lagoon

Iceland only got more amazing with each day of our trip!
After driving the Golden Circle and exploring the countryside,
we headed into Reykjavik + The Blue Lagoon our final day here.
The Blue Lagoon is closer out by the Keflavik Airport, so it’s best
to plan a visit either when you first arrive or before leaving Iceland.
We planned it for our final day because of this, and it was quite the way
to end our time in Iceland (and our year in Europe) before flying out!
We went first thing in the morning when they opened at 9 AM,
which I highly recommend because it was practically empty at first!
(PS yes don’t worry, it’s okay to go in while pregnant!)
By the time we left a few hours later, it was packed with a line
for tickets … so we were happy we had soaked it in early. It
was also so cozy in the foggy, rainy weather. It makes the
water feel even better! It would be nice in any weather.
First things first, we applied our silica mud masks :)
This comes with any entry and it feels pretty good!
You can just swim over to the spa bar and scoop some
mud on to apply to your face. It’s funny to look around
and see everyone else with the same stuff on their face!
We explored every inch of the lagoon, with all of its different temperatures.
We even got a green juice and strawberry smoothie from the swim-up bar!
It is such a relaxing and lovely way to spend a few hours, especially before a flight.Haha I can’t get over how funny looking these are! ^^
We could not stop taking selfies and laughing so hard.
We reluctantly left after our soak, sauna, steam, smoothies, and shower. Success!
We hit the (gorgeous) road back to explore Reykjavik for the afternoon.
We stopped first by the Hallgrimskirkja cathedral, which is pretty unique and interesting!
Since it was Sunday we got to peek into the services and hear the bells chiming.
We walked the colorful, cloudy streets of the city to explore a bit.
We stopped in for lunch at Glo on a suggestion from the expert Kiki,
and it was the greatest (and healthiest) meal after our lagoon soak.
The food here is all raw, vegan, and organic, and still so tasty.
^^ A plate full of goodness before our long flight was just what we needed.
We did take some dessert to go for the plane, don’t worry ^^
Our last stop in Reykjavik was church! We were so happy they had a
little branch here, and it was a great way to go out since it was Sunday. We’ve been to church in lots of languages this year :)
I had to stock up on some Skyr yogurt for the plane … it was a favorite!
We also picked up some Icelandic gifts before the airport…
They even had “Fresh Icelandic Mountain Air” for sale :)
I’d like to bottle that up for the future!
We said our goodbyes not only to Iceland, but to this epic year abroad in Europe…
and headed on a plane back to the USA! It felt so crazy and surreal, but we were
so excited to be heading home. We loved you Iceland, and see you from the states!
xo
How are you this cute 7 months pregnant? I need the suit and the soak in the lagoon.
One of my dreams!!!
That place looks absolutely dreamy! I saw that suit at Lime Ricky, is that where you got it? Anyway you look super cute in it!
Your photos are dreamy. I’m glad you had such a great trip for your final one in Europe! Have fun back in the US! x

Yay so glad you tried Glo I love that place! Looks like a wonderful way to say goodbye to Europe;) Looking forward to following along with all your US adventures!
How fun! My friend’s parents are serving a mission in Iceland, and she has shared lots of beautiful pictures and great stories from them. Glad you stopped at such an awesome place as your final destination before coming home to the States!
What. A. Dream!
I just start dreaming about Blue Lagoon. Looks like a lot of fun!
ooh, all of that food looks SO good! love the photos from the lagoon – looks like such a peaceful place.
this is incredible!
What a great way to end your trip! The Blue Lagoon is one of the things I’m most excited to see/do whenever I make it to Iceland! So funny that they sold bottled Icelandic air to bring home!
We have just returned from Iceland. Blue Lagoon was so fabulous, but the weather was not good, and we didnt manage any photos. I hope it will be ok if I use a couple of your pics on my fb (not public) page to remind me of what it was like. Hope you are enjoying your new baby. Thanks, best wishes Cyn
