Memorial Day Hike 2016!
It was a nice change to stay in town for a holiday weekend!
In past years I always have put so much pressure on myself to
plan something amazing over long weekends, but obviously this
year we are just happy to be in one place and getting ready to settle in!
We happily spent Memorial Day weekend together in the Bay and filled
it with fun local things – spending time in San Francisco over the weekend,
bbq-ing with friends on Sunday, and as per tradition..doing a big hike on Monday.
We ended the holiday with a fun meal + watching the Warriors game 7 with friends
which was so fun being out here in the Bay! Very successful holiday weekend, with so
much gratitude and thanks to those who have given + sacrificed so much for our country.
We hiked Mission Peak, which has been on my Bay Area Bucket List forever.
It’s in the lower East Bay near Fremont, and a really great 6 mile hike!
PS This side angle of the bump makes me feel LARGE haha but it’s for
good reason! That bump is definitely looking 8 months big though :)
Our hiking crew ^^ (guess I missed the memo on the Giants hat…)
The summit pole was even better with the American flag there for Memorial Day!
Cute Dayna took it slow with me when I was getting tired near the end!
Cute little orange poppies dotting the trail ^^
Chase + Kendall take good care of me and they were not too sure about
letting me do the hike in this heat, but I promised to stop if I wasn’t feeling well.
I took it slow and felt good, and we packed plenty of water which Chase so nicely
carried up in a backpack for all of us. I told him I didn’t feel too bad about having
him carry the pack on his back so he could know what I am carrying on my front! :)
He got even more practice when our friend’s dog got overheated
and needed a break for his paws on the hot dirt…Chase literally
picked up the 90 pound dog and carried him down like a baby! Ha!
And, back at the bottom waiting for the cars. We made it!
I love hiking on Mem Day with this girl…2 years ago we were doing HALF DOME!Apple blackberry pie seemed necessary to usher in summer with ^^
And a BBQ with our friends Tara and Rob was such a fun way to spend
the holiday weekend! Reuniting with them was the best.
Sunny SF, BBQing, homemade pie, hot weather, a good hike, time with
friends, and Warriors winning Game 7 made for a great Memorial Day weekend.
So thankful for this place we live, and those who have served to protect it for us.
