Final weeks in Holland
Our final month in Europe has begun! We are traveling for the next few weeks
before we head back to the states, so our goodbyes to Amsterdam have started…
We are only stopping through at the end before we go home :( so here are some
glimpses of our final weeks spent here before we hit the road starting now!
It’s finally time to decide on some Delft pieces to remember Holland by…
I was thinking of an entire China set, but I might just a nice platter and
some other pieces to ship home. Also, the tulips just keep getting better! ^^
Tulip bulbs + antiques as spring days have begun ^^
When the city looks like a watercolor painting… ^^
Last pie dates…oh how I will miss this Dutch apple pie! ^^
I decided I needed this bike shirt to remember Amsterdam by…
also, white ranunculus wrapped in brown paper couldn’t be resisted. ^^
Some avo toast to get us warmed up to Bay area eats again soon ^^
I’ll also miss the perfect doorsteps + plants surrounding them. This is right on our street ^^
More things to miss … poffertjes. I’ll be re-creating these lots at home!
I will be picking up my Dutch cheese frequently back in the states ^^
^^ Some last souvenirs to remember Holland by!
Still searching for my perfect Amsterdam map … it has to be the right colors!
I think we had tulips in the house weekly here ^^ These ones opened up so
gorgeous, almost like peonies! Now I have such a soft spot for pink tulips :)
A Dutch temple trip on a blue-sky day ^^
Tulip box on top of a bike, couldn’t be cuter. Also, Chase’s mom left us the
BEST apple tart when they went home. We might have eaten it for breakfast …
Taco night with fellow American friends — they had family come in town
and got all stocked up on favorites like Costco salsa, so we had a feast to celebrate!
Funny story — our cute friends Jeff & Lucy moved to Amsterdam the same time as us,
and their 6 month lease was up right as we are leaving — so they are taking over our place!
Haha they came over to drop some things and we had to document that we will have all lived
in this place…so we took a Brady Bunch style stair picture :) Love knowing they’ll be living here!
(And on the right … healthy takeout. We’re trying to be good before hitting the road again) ^^
Are you glad that soon I won’t have the excuse to post so many tulip pics?? :)
I got to have a little pregnant pampering day at the cutest of spas
before we leave town. A pre-natal massage + pedi = heaven. ^^
We did a little maternity photo shoot with a local photographer to capture
this stage of life in this city before we leave ^^ I’ll share soon! :)
I get saddest when I think of not being able to walk these dreamy canals daily ^^
But at the same time I am so happy we had the chance to, and it feels right to go back!
Some last favorite meals at Nacional ^^
And, we’ve filled up on our fair share Salsa Shop, since we won’t have
Mexican for the next month on the road (until we are BACK in CA!!)
I really could eat this daily and it has saved us while living here!
Netherlands pride ^^We got ourselves to the last few museums on our list ^^
including the cool Maritime Museum on a ship!PS.. if you’re wondering how we are getting our things home, thank
GOODNESS for Chase’s family! During their recent visit they checked
four of our bags home and after shipping a little box, that’s all we had here!
It was so lucky that they had free checked bags allowed on their flight, and
they were amazing to take these all the way back. As they left their cab was
quite full between our 4 bags and all of their luggage. Such lifesavers! Now as we take off to travel to some final few places, I am holding
my breath because my passport has ONE free page which I need to even
be able to fly home! Sooo I will be nicely asking the customs people to find
a half-page with other stamps to stamp these next weeks :) Fingers crossed.
PS…I took out all visa info that was on these pages so don’t worry!
And, cue the tears again –– I haven’t been too sad since we still have some time in Europe,
but I will sure miss this place. We are so lucky to have had the time here. It is a unique
and special place. I know we’ll be back to visit with my parents one day, and our babe.
So vaarwel for now, Amsterdam! You’ve been a dream and we will always
remember our little Dutch chapter of life. Thanks for helping us grow baby girl,
learn how to not get hit by bikes, eat cheese daily, stop and smell the tulips, appreciate
the best kind of architecture, eat apple pie the right way, meet new friends, get outside
of our comfort zones, and basically live in a fairytale. We love you forever and ever!
