weekending, amsterdam style

with our short 6 months in amsterdam and traveling on so many weekends,
i haven’t felt quite like we actually live here. that has started to change where
i know the city well now and it does feel like a kind of “home” when i return
from a trip. i always feel settled into a place when chase and i get into a
weekend routine in that place. this has been accomplished in amsterdam
for us! on a normal saturday, we have started to stop by our favorite
breakfast spot: yoghurt barn…then go on a run along the canals, take a
sauna at our favorite spot (becoming full-on european with that :) .. see
a new museum or sight, and discover something new since we have a
limited time left here! a few snaps from this weekend in the city::
the best breakfast at yoghurt barn ^^ i actually really want to open a franchise
of this idea in california, because i feel like it would do so well! it’s like
a froyo bar but with actual yogurt + all of the healthiest toppings.
we’re doing our best to fit in some day trips around the netherlands.
there are so many darling dutch towns nearby that we’ve loved.
we’ve explored a few with our friends gabby & jordan, and went
to this tiny little modern town of zandaam for some shopping ^^
it was the prettiest blue sky day, although still chilly.
we made it back to amsterdam in time to see a unique museum
we’ve wanted to visit ^^ the tiny houseboat museum, on a houseboat!
it was a fun one and i’ll talk more about it in my amsterdam museum guide.
from here on out we don’t have too many amsterdam weekends left just the two of us…
i am in russia next week, then we have family visitors, head to prague with them, have
friend visitors, then we head off on a babymoon for most of april before we head back!
that makes me sad but so excited for all that’s ahead. i’m glad we soaked this one up!
xo
I would be thrilled if you could bring your franchise idea to the U.S…
I remember visiting a similar place that had Greek yogurt in Greece and I was obsessed.
It tasted like such a treat, all while being healthy!
Your posts always give me such wanderlust. The next time I visit Europe I know that I will use your posts as a travel guide :)
haha yay you are also a fan of the yogurt bar idea!
i can’t believe it’s not all over california yet– we need to bring it to the U.S. for sure.
and i’m so glad, wanderlust is the best :) xo
Fun (and yummy) looking weekend
yoghurt barn looks delicious! I have to imagine that it would be all the craze in California ;).
hah right?! we need to get on that.
I can’t believe your time in Amsterdam is already coming to a close, I feel like it flew by! I can’t wait to hear about your babymoon plans! ;)
i know! it has been amazing though and we will leave loving it so much in a month :)
do you guys have a babymoon planned?! xo
What an incredible experience to get to be there. It looks so beautiful!

Have you learned very much Dutch during your time there? Also do you guys watch The Best Two Years like every day? :)
only some basics..it is a tough language!
we did watch the best two years when we first moved here, we hadn’t seen it for years and we laughed so hard! our bishop here is in it! haha xo
Haha, that’s awesome!
