5 countries in 72 hours

5 countries in 72 hours

Earlier this week as part of my trip to Russia, I had to travel
through 5 countries in 72 hours... all alone, pregnant!
It was memorable for sure, but I think my solo travels are
done for now before baby. It’s so much better to be with Chase :)

We have a good amount of travels to pack in this next month
before we head back to the states, but we’re going to slow it
down a lot and enjoy the rest of our time here. This was
definitely one last blast as I left Amsterdam at 5 AM, flew
through Switzerland, onto Finland, ferried to Russia, then
came back to Helsinki and flew through Germany before
making it home (exhausted). What a whirlwind! Here are
a few phone snaps from this little trip with baby in the belly.

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset^^ Hello there, Zurich!
Processed with VSCOcam with f2 presetPS- Swiss Airlines is kind of the best, giving out food (and Swiss chocolates) on each flight!

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset I took the train into Central Station to find a blue sky day in Helsinki ^^
Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset Finland is such a friendly place. ^^ Still ice skating in March!
5 countries in 72 hours I went straight to Vapiano in downtown Helsinki (our FAVORITE!)
After a long day, it was the perfect meal before heading to the ship.
5 countries in 72 hours2It was pizza + the freshest salad for me on the way to the port ^^
5 countries in 72 hours1 Luckily I arrived in time with all of my documents intact and made it through
customs/ boarding. I took all of the trains and metros with no wifi so
I was navigating old-school all alone which was a good little challenge.Processed with VSCOcam with f2 presetI collapsed in exhaustion the second I got to my lonely little room on the ship,
which had been booked for 2 before Chase realized he couldn’t swing coming ^^

I cruised through the night to Russia and did my exploring of St. Petersburg (see here)
5 countries in 72 hoursI got back to Helsinki after another cruise through the night, where I
headed straight into town for some Finnish pastries to take back to Chase.Processed with VSCOcam with f2 presetI felt like I had deserved a salted caramel macaron for all of that bag-carrying ^^
Processed with VSCOcam with f2 presetHello, Munich! Thanks for helping me through a 3.5 hour layover.
Also: Lufthansa is the greatest airline. They treat you so well and gave food on every flight!

(PS, I had zero wifi most of this trip so I got lots of these all at once :)
Processed with VSCOcam with f2 presetI got in around 8pm last night and took the train back into the city.
I walked up to our apartment to see this cute sight of my hubby
waiting for me with a clean house and….

  • Wow! You are so brave to do a trip like this solo. I would have been terrified to do this pregnant. I’m way too narcotic and would have been worried about something going wrong with the baby and being stuck somewhere. But now you’ve seen Russia so I guess it was worth it. Hope you guys enjoy your last bit of time in Europe

  • Oh, I love it! I remember traveling to Denver at 4 months pregnant and was totally wiped the whole time…what a wimp I was! I just recently started following your blog but am loving your carefree style of writing. Staying tuned for more. :)

  • Everything about this post is amazing! Really cool to have touched foot in five countries in one day – although I’m sure incredibly exhausting. You’re very lucky to have a husband that’s so attentive and caring as well! Hopefully you got some good rest when you arrived back home.

  • What a whirlwind! I can’t imagine doing a big trip like that solo and pregnant – especially with all of the layovers, haha. So sweet of Chase to have a clean home and dinner waiting!
