covent garden! it was an area i loved to visit while
living in london during college..so it was pretty surreal
to live right in the center of it this fall with chase! i’d say
we took full advantage of the fun shops, restaurants, west
end plays, and central location that covent garden offers.
now i feel like i have a much better feel for it after staying here!
such a charming area everywhere you look ^^
this is soho, but love that it borders covent garden!
lots of good food and fun events are always happening here.
the first musical we went to while here
was matilda! we were excited because neither
of us have seen it and we had just missed it this
summer in SF…so we were glad we could see it here.
we thought it was darling! a bit more suited for kids,
but we always love a fun broadway and we were amazed
at the talent of the children in this play. so incredible!
^^ chase posing like matilda, haha.
our favorite songs were when i grow up & revolting children..
we can’t get over the amazing voices of the kids!
after shows we loved having an NYC favorite right
nearby in covent garden market… shake shack!!
burgers, crinkly fries, and custards hit the spot.
everything tasted just like the NY original except the UK
has their own local custard flavors like sticky toffee pudding! :)
we also got to catch memphis during its final weeks in london!
this was a favorite of ours when we saw it in NYC while dating, so
it was fun to have it in london. plus, pre-show pad thai was the best.
one other great pre-show dinner was rossopomodoro
right on monmouth street. having spent time in naples
this summer, we approved and appreciated this napoletana
pizza and pasta just a few minutes walk from our flat.
i told you there is just so much great food in this area
(and all areas of london, really!)
toward the end of our time here it was nearing
thanksgiving time, and we were missing the USA.
chase heard about joe’s southern kitchen, serving
up southern barbecue. his alabama heart needed a
fix of something familiar, and he got it here for sure!
from the cornbread to ribs to mashed potatoes to
fried chicken, we were happy (& full) campers here :)
not to mention the banana pie in a jar, and pecan pie.
covent garden was so full of things to do, see, enjoy, and eat.
there is no shortage of fun here, & these were a few favorites.
