cinco de mayo in san francisco

happy cinco de mayo!
we just discovered a new mexican food spot in the financial district of SF –

just in time for cinco de mayo! uno dos tacos is my new go-to spot for a quick,
authentic, & inexpensive stop downtown. i’m always looking for easy places to eat
near union square, but many close early or have long waits. uno dos is the perfect solution!
it is so fun, lively, and fresh – fresh – fresh. every single thing from tortillas to agua fresca
is made in house. it’s a fun indoor atmosphere and even has an outdoor patio for warm nights!

try your best to meet chef luis flores while at uno dos. he’s been involved in a
few of the city’s most successful restaurants, but he is now exec, chef and at home
here. his culinary roots go back to a warm family & big kitchen in guadalajara
where he learned how to cook mexican food from scratch. from tortillas to
salsas specially crafted to bring the flavors out, you’ll taste the difference here.
you are truly getting authentic food made straight from chef flores at uno dos.
luis takes his food so seriously that he pairs a specific salsa to each taco he serves.
as we chatted with him chase, put the wrong sauce on the fish taco and luis had to
go make a fresh one because he has truly crafted each flavor so personally. i loved it!

uno dos2the menu is simple with enough variation to fit all tastes. it’s so reasonable too!
we liked the taco sampler, tinga chicken salad, bar bites, and chips + guac.

IMG_5304uno dos for breakfast, happy hour, late night tacos or cinco de mayo, come here for
top notch satisfying mexican food. maybe we’ll see you there tonight! :)

Everything looks delicious, I love Mexican food but it’s so hard to find authentic spots here in Toronto — I always have to head across the border. Definitely going to keep this place in mind next time I’m in SF.

It doesn’t take much convincing for me to go to a Mexican place and this one sounds fantastic! I love that he was so intentional about which sauce pairs with which taco.
