my mom’s favorite thing to do on a trip

my mom’s favorite thing to do on a trip
if there’s anything my mom loves on a trip,
it’s renting bikes…and getting ice cream.
but mostly, renting bikes. so obviously
while they were visiting this weekend,
after a fun breakfast we had to go rent
some at our favorite place– the bike hut.

we first rented from the bike hut here
when our friends were in town, and
we loved it so much we have only used
them since! it’s a great non-profit, and
the executive director michael is the
best! it’s also a good cause so it is easy
to support them. donations of used
bike parts are also tax deductible! they
on the edge of the embarcadero, so you
can start right at the ferry building and go
all the way down. this time we did a crazy
loop in the city and we rode 31 miles…
yes i’m serious. when your parents
are triathletes, that is what happens!

^^ of course we stopped at the ferry building market.
those ice cream flavors are real life and we
sampled them at 10:30 AM. don’t judge.
^^ just the cutest people on earth.
i love them so much! please just move here!!!
my mom is one cute cycling chick.
we did the twin peaks climb, which i’ve always
wanted to do after driving up there so many times.
that view was even better after all the work to get up!
^^ he is such an animal…he beat me on every
single hill, then would ride down to where i was
and ride back up and beat me again. he’s an ironman!
my mom is too, but we were chatting so she stayed with me :)
^^ twin peaks, one of the best views in the city.
^^ love this dad of mine.
we missed chase who was at work, but i was so glad i could
take the day off to be with my two best friends / parents!

^^ our reward after the long climb up was flying down the hills!

^^ our other reward was our favorite ice cream truck,
twirl & dip. somehow in all the visits my dad had never
tried this, and i knew it would be his FAVORITE. it was!
^^ organic vanilla bean soft serve dipped in handmade dark chocolate
and sprinkled with sea salt in a handmade sugar cone. droooool.
^^ chocolate LOVERS. he taught me well.
biking allll day in the perfect weather!
from twin peaks down to golden gate park,
then out to ocean beach. too beautiful!
i love california more than i can say.
^^ i can’t get enough.
^^ then, off to ride across the golden gate bridge.
i promise, it never gets old!
^^ views from the bridge.
^^ and, back under the bridge after crossing it.
^^ we ended with dinner at our favorite cheesecake factory
on top of macy’s. even though it’s cheesecake factory and it’s
all over, we always have to go here in SF with my parents.
it’s kind of a tradition since they always took us here when i
was growing up, back when we didn’t have cheesecake factory
at home so it was a BIG deal. and it’s the best location looking
over union square! such a fun night to end a perfect day!
^^ here was our 31 mile loop…including
lots and lots of hills. legs are still sore!
^^ of and of course there was a google SF stop in all of that :)
